Kevin - Savvy lad

Local Guide Kevin

Born and raised in the foothills outside of Pittsburgh, Kevin remembers his dad dragging him out to ride bikes along old Pennsylvania railways. He didn’t care for it then, but those rides sparked a lifelong passion for exploring on two wheels.  In 2022, he traded those hills for polders and moved to Amsterdam to study urban planning in the world’s most bike-friendly country.

Now based in Haarlem (a short ride from Amsterdam), you’ll catch Kevin birdwatching in the dunes, baking scones, or marveling at how easily Amsterdammers weave around each other during rush hour. He’s passionate about seeing cities from a pedestrian perspective and believes thoughtful design can make biking not just convenient, but also fun for everyone. Ask him about Dutch road design, the weirdest things he’s seen carried by bike, and his favorite “Fietsstraat” in Amsterdam.
